This week's Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and The Bookish, is ten books you almost put down but didn't. Couldn't quite think of ten, but here are my Four Books I Almost Put Down But Didn't :
1. The Summer Garden by Paullina Simons FIRST LET ME JUST SAY. This book belongs to my favourite trilogy ever, The Bronze Horseman Trilogy. If you haven't read it, please do so. You will not regret it. But k, after coming off the roller coaster that was the first and second book in the trilogy, The Summer Garden began at such a slow and somber pace. I can't really explain without giving the story away, but I was just so excited for the characters at the end of the second book, and then they sort of backtracked at the beginning of this one. I knew I had to stick with it though, even if I was a bit bored and disappointed at the start, and I'm so glad I did because the ending had to be one of the best endings I've ever read! <3 |
Okay wooooow, don't even get me started on this book. I feel like I'm one of the only people in the whole world who didn't enjoy it. I went in being so excited to hop on the series bandwagon, and to its credit, the first 100 pages were really great. But then it just started to drag on and on, and I kept telling myself, well I can't quit now, and besides, it will probably pick up again soon. And then, okay well maybe the ending is really awesome. Sadly, I was disappointed in the end, and didn't fall in love with like I thought I would. But its been a couple years since then, so maybe I should give it another go! Because everyone seems to love this series, and I want to love it too. |
Ohhhhh The Host. Such a great book. Its funny, because I owned this one for years before I finally decided to sit down and read it. The beginning was soooooo slowwww and I was so tempted to just ditch it and put it back on my shelf, but I kept at it and it turned out that the rest of the story was totally amazing, which then made it impossible for me to put down! Its one of those stories that's so great because it simmers for a long time, and you really get to know the characters and the world, and you can't help but love it by the end. BUT MAY I JUST SAY. The movie... LOL I mean you can never expect much from a book-movie adaptation, but this one. THIS ONE. It was soooo bad wowowow who thought that would be a good idea cause no. |
Soo.. b-b.. b-b-boring. Divergent and Insurgent were sooooo entertaining and thrilling to read, and then Allegiant comes along and turns out to be one of the biggest disappointments ever. This story could have gone so many cool places, there could have been some amazing twists thrown in, which I was really hoping for considering the cliff-hanger ending of Insurgent, but nope. I couldn't just put this book down though, even if I really wanted to, because I had to know how it was all going to end. But honestly I may as well just put it down and left it unfinished, because the only interesting thing that happened (and you know what I'm talking about) happened right at the end, and still nothing went anywhere. Not happy with this one, LOL if you couldn't already tell. |
