Aaaaand its a wrap! What a fabulous week of reading :) Not gonna lie though, I got absolutely nothing done on Friday or Saturday.. LOL but I figure that's okay because everyone needs a party break here and there! But anyway, in terms of read-a-thon stats, I completed 4 books, 1 novella, and got just over halfway through another book, Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. So i think overall it was a very successful first-read-a-thon, and I can't wait until the next Bout of Books, which will take place in August! Wooooo

P.S. My favourite book of the read-a-thon was definitely To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han
"A beautiful and distinguished family.A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
Well. That's pretty much as vague as you can get. Yet somehow, still not vague enough. K. This book was good, no doubt. I might get a little rant-y in this review, but I really did enjoy this book despite the many ways in which it bugged me. First I'll just say that if you've never heard about this book, don't continue reading this review. Don't read any reviews actually, just go pick it up right away. Because that's seriously the only way that you'll be get the full experience. K so bye.
Alright. So here are some of the problems that I had with this book. Because its been so hyped up on the internet, and because everyone keeps saying they have "to lie" about the ending, ITS PRETTY OBVIOUS once you start the book that there's going to be some twist ending. And if you're anything like me, you immediately start looking for clues and signs to figure out what that twist might be. It's not hard to figure out, either. So then the rest of the book you're just kind of waiting for shit to go down, and not really getting "the full experience" of being totally surprised in the end. WHICH IS STILL FINE, because the book is still really awesome, even if you figure it out early on. But man, I really wish I wasn't such a little detective. I can only imagine how much better this book would have been if I hadn't read the "we have to lie about the ending" comments on the internet. GAH. SHUT UP. LOL. But k, one more thing that really irked me was the writing style. It was choppy and dull, which now, come to think of it, the dull part is probably intentional because it adds to the suspense and reflects the character themes.. okaaay, that's actually pretty cool and smart I guess.. BUT STILL it read so slow. Which isn't fun. That ending thooough, woooow. Even though I knew what was going to happen, it was still pretty emotional, and I even shed a couple tears, so that was cool. Plus the characters were super neat, and it was interesting to see the family dynamics unfold. So overall, it was a pretty sweet book, even though there were a couple issues.
IT WAS GOOOOOD, go pick it up. Sorry if this was a little spoiler-y, but I tried to warn ya in the first little bit up there. Is anyone even reading this though? Am I just talking to myself? LOL probably. Cool :)
Feelings at the end of the Book:
WOW. Who would have guessed.. :-|
Still sad though.
Yay! I put some books together and took this pic to complete the Rainbow of Books Challenge, hosted by Neon Yeti Reads. Although, I'm just realizing that I put the books in the opposite order.. lol dang. But oh well, still looks pretty :) What a fun challenge!
Books I used:
The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder
Allegiant by Veronica Roth
Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts
Sever by Lauren DeStefano
Revived by Cat Patrick
Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard
Are These My Basoomas I See Before Me? by Louise Rennison
Crank by Ellen Hopkins
P.S. I've read all of these books except Wanderlove!
Day 4 of Bout of Books 10 started off pretty slow for me. I read a novella called The Guard by Kiera Cass, which was pretty unimpressive, and then I wasn't in the mood for reading again until much later. I read about 100 pages of We Were Liars by E. Lockhart, wasn't loving it, and decided to go to bed. But then I couldn't sleep because I HAD to know how the book ended (to see if I guessed right) so I stayed up super late to finish it! It was well past midnight when I did, but I'll still count it towards day four, whatevaa.

"To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed. But one day Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed, causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters: her first kiss, the boy from summer camp, even her sister's ex-boyfriend, Josh. As she learns to deal with her past loves face to face, Lara Jean discovers that something good may come out of these letters after all."
I'm in love. That's right, I'm officially in love with this book! And its weird because usually contemporary is not my thing, but this book is definitely one of my favourites like, ever. Its full of so many surprises, and there's this whole family element to it that's really relatable and sweet. Plus the love interests are to die for so, you know, what else could you ask for in a book? LOL but ya, loved this one like crazy! Its one of those books that when you finish, you immediately want to read it again so you can stay wrapped up in the world a little bit longer.
This book kept surprising me in the most wonderful ways, both with the plot and just my overall enjoyment of the story. Of course, there were many predictable elements and twists (like it was a little too obvious who sent out her secret letters), but wowowow the character developments went in directions that I didn't see coming. I love when your opinion of a character changes as a story goes along, it makes the book a lot more dynamic and also a lot more genuine. Because its true to real-life that your first impression of someone is never accurate to how they really are. Like people change and surprise you in the real world as you get to know them, and that's something this book explored, which is one of the reasons why I loved it so much. And speaking of genuine, this book was full of realistic drama, none of that over-the-top stuff I so often see in YA books. It wasn't just drama between friends or boyfriend-girlfriend drama, but there was a lot of focus on family, sisters especially, and I really enjoyed that! I found it to be incredibly relatable, which I think a great contemporary should always be.
Amazing. Fantastic. Wonderful. Fabulous. All the best praise is what this book deserves. I was laughing, squealing, sighing, raging, and cheering the whole way through, and now I can't get the story or the characters out of my head! I'll definitely have to re-read this one again soon, it was that good! And ooooo, apparently this is supposed to be part of a duology, which is crazy exciting (and also crazy upsetting cause it'll be at least another year before the second book comes out - but whatevaaa)! So yaaa, I would obviously recommend this book if you're looking for an awesome contemporary. Its pretty much the sweetest thing you'll ever read :)
Feelings throughout the Book:
When she's first confronted about one of the letters.. So embarrassing!!
I loved the Halloween chapter!
Kitty's christmas present...
Day 3 of Bout of Books 10 was awwwesssome! I wasn't sure if I would be able to get much reading done, because I was feeling pretty lazy, but once I started To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han, I. Couldn't. Stop. It was sooo amazing, oh myy gaawd. Its been a while since I've read a contemporary, and usually they're not my favourite, but this one. WOW. Loved it. And I can't believe I finished another book in just one day. I'm 3 for 3 now, which I doubt I'll be able to keep up, but still, yay! :)

Feelings when I finished the book:
PS. SOOO this means that I finished all the books on my read-a-thon TBR list, so I think I'm going to go check out the bookstore tomorrow and see if I can find something good to read next! If anyone has any suggestions, like maybe something contemporary since now I'm really in the mood for it, let me know in the comments! Thanks :)
I'm having a really lazy day today, and I seriously need to get some reading in! Going to try to read at least 50 pages in this next sitting, and then hopefully I'll just get on a roll and get even more read. Wooo, let's go!
Day 2 of Bout of Books 10 was another success! I finished The One by Kiera Cass, and also did a challenge :) I exceeded my daily goal of 100 pages, but I'm a bit disappointed that I didn't read much of the next book on my to-read list (I only read the first chapter of To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han, which was only a few pages, so I'm not going to count that towards my pages read for the day). Tomorrow is a bit busier of a day for me, but I'm going to try to get as much reading in as I can!

For my first read-a-thon challenge, created by River City Reading, I have to list some titles that I'm looking forward to reading. That shouldn't be too hard, since I'm constantly checking out new/upcoming releases. Here are the ones I'm most excited about! :)
Landry Park by Bethany hagen
The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski
Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo
Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins
Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
Just Finished The One by Kiera Cass. So many mixed feelings.
1. I'm seriously pissed off cause that was just another book of back and forth, annoying bs. LIKE, I was ready for the selection to be done and to finally get some solutions, but the only potential good stuff was crammed into the last 50 pages. I FEEL LIKE THAT WAS A WASTE OF TIME.
2. But also yaaaaaaaaay the ending was so cute and overall it was an adorable love story. SO WHATEVA.
